It will be received this Saturday (1st) by Prime Minister Keir Stmerer in London, on the eve of a European summit organized in the British capital to reaffirm the support for Kiev after the basement between the Ukrainian President and In the White House.

Stmerer guaranteed his “unshakable support” on Friday night to the Ukrainian leader after the US president kicked him from the White House threatening to leave him “alone” if he does not reach peace with Russia. Russia, on the other hand, classified Zelensky’s visit to Washington from “complete political and diplomatic failure.”

Most European leaders clenched ranks with Ukrainian President, astonished by the spectacular Friday’s chat at the oval hall against cameras around the world, after Zelensky prematurely left the White House without signing the mineral agreement that led him to Washington.

For German diplomacy, the “unqualified” altercation between Trump and Zelensky shows that “a new age of infamy began”. “It is clear that the free world needs a new leader. It is up to us, the Europeans, to assume this challenge, ”said European Union Diplomacy Chief Kaja Kallas.

About 15 European leaders will meet with this perspective on Sunday in London for a summit dedicated to European security and Ukraine.

Continuous military support

At the meeting will be represented – in addition to NATO and the European Union – Ukraine, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania and Turkey. Turkey Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who will participate in the summit, talked on Saturday with his Russian pair, Sergei Lavrov, indicated his services.

Turkey, which welcomed Russian-Ukrainian negotiations at the beginning of the war three years ago, is willing to do this again, reiterating its support for Ukraine’s “territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence”, detailed an Ankara diplomatic source.

The British Prime Minister explained that the London summit gives “continuity” to Paris in mid -February and that it will focus on the “reinforcement of the position of Ukrainia today, including a continuous military support and greater economic pressure on Russia”.

Participants will also talk about the “need for Europe to play their role in defense” in the risk of withdrawing the American military umbrella and nuclear. French President Emmanuel Macron said he was willing to “open the discussion” about a possible future European nuclear dissuasion after a request from the future German head of government, Friedrich Merz.

The conservative, winner of the last elections, believes that Europe should prepare for the “worst scenario” of an NATO abandoned by Washington.

No apology

Ukraine and Europe follow with concern the approach between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. Moscow and Washington began bilateral negotiations to end the war without inviting Ukraine or Europeans. The tension increased after Friday’s hallucinating chat at the oval hall against the press around the world.

Trump scolded Zelensky saying he was “in a very bad position” and “without letters in hand,” and accused him of betting “with the risk of a third world war.” “Either they reach an agreement or we will leave them alone,” the Republican told a Ukrainian president who tried to defend himself against the accusations of Trump and his vice president, Jd Vance.

The Republican tycoon urged his guest to withdraw, nullifying the press conference, the work lunch and the signing of the mineral agreement. “You can go back when you are prepared for peace,” Trump said on his social truth platform.

Subsequently questioned by Fox News, Zelensky acknowledged that it will be “difficult” for Ukraine to contain the Russian invasion without Washington’s help, but was hopeful to resume the relationship with Trump. However, he ruled out an apology to the US President as the Secretary of State demanded Marco Rubio.

In the streets of Kiev, many Ukrainians praised the president’s determination. “It didn’t disappoint us,” said Roman Shkanov, a 32 -year -old attendant. But Anna Plachkova, a 26 -year -old doctor, expressed uneasiness with the future consequences. “American support is very important […] So, unfortunately, I don’t think it’s positive for us. ”
