This Sunday (2) begins the parades of the samba schools. This year, it brings a novelty, instead of two days of parades, for the first time in history the performances will be held in three days, in addition to the champions parades, which takes place the next weekend of the party. The decision of Liesa (independent league of samba schools) involves several factors, ranging from leveling the competition, as with less school a day they can parade before dawn and not lose the use of scenic lighting. Another factor is to attract more viewers to the sambadrome, which accommodates 80,000 people.

With the changes the parade time of schools increases by 10 minutes, ie it went from 70 minutes to 80, with an interval of 10 between one presentation and another. The first day of parades is marked by the return of Unidos de Padre Miguel to the elite of Carnival, and the performances of Viradouro, champion of 2024 and Empress Leopoldinense, runner-up. The parades are scheduled to start at 10 pm and end around 4am. Check out the schools that open Rio de Janeiro Carnival in Sapucaí.
