Facing March salad It is a very universal dish that you can serve cold – in the form of a classic salad or hot – as a nutritious snack or element of dinner dish. In the salad you will find a fairly unusual combination of cabbage and marinated peppers. We used white, but you can also use sauerkraut.
Prepare the following ingredients:
- 1 kg of chopped white or sauerkraut,
- 1 small leek,
- 150-200 g of marinated peppers,
- 2 cloves of garlic,
- 2-3 tablespoons of oil or butter,
- 2 tablespoons of Provencal herbs or other dried herbs,
- ½ teaspoon of cumin seeds,
- Salt and black pepper to taste.
If you use white cabbage, peel the external leaves, cut out hard parts, and chop the cabbage finely. Sauerkraut – if you choose this version – rinse, squeeze the excess juice and cut into smaller pieces. Clean leek and chop finely.
Heat the fat in a frying pan, add the caraway and finely chopped garlic to start to smell nice, and then add chopped Lieutenant Mix so that the leek softens, and then add the cabbage, pour in the spices. If necessary, add 1-2 tablespoons of water and simmer the cabbage on low heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Finally, add chopped peppers, mix and season with salt and black pepper.
Serve the March salad warmafter removing from a pan or cold. It tastes great with a slice of fresh bread.
