New Wingd technology wants to revolutionize fuel from ships, currently major ocean pollutors.
The new Methanol X-DF-M engine of ten-cylinder and 92 Wingd holes, bought by China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) in 2016, has 1,953 tons and a maximum power of 64,500 kilowatts.
It is considered, according to the “giant heart” that can dictate the future of ships: it has more ecological propulsion systems and is the most powerful engine powered to methanol to date.
Methanol has been studied in recent times as a more sustainable food source, in a sector where more than 940 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
Methanol combustion generates fewer greenhouse gases and produces lower nitrogen and particle oxide levels than traditional maritime fuels.
Now the X-DF-M engine is expected to be installed in the fourth ship in a series of 16,000-time contractor ships under construction for the shipping lines at the shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) shipyard.
“As interest in methanol and regulatory clarity increase, we provide that the X-DF-M platform will become a fundamental contributor to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions From global maritime transport, ”said company CEO Dominik Schneiter.
