The Senator (Republicans-DF) presented a bill to create, in the crime of false digital identity to punish those who use false profiles on social networks or messaging applications for.
The crime of false digital identity would be characterized by the creation, use or maintenance of profile, identity or false representation in digital or electronic means to psychologically manipulate another person through digital interactions in order to obtain illicit advantage or cause damage to honor, image, psychological or equity integrity of third parties.
The expected punishment is arrest of one to five years and a fine. The penalty is increased from one third to double if the crime is committed through images, videos or personal data of third parties without permission or in order to induce an error about the identity of the agent to maintain affective relationship or induce the practice of a heritage provision.

“Legislative omission or lack of clarity in typification of these conduct has allowed criminals to escape accountability, leaving victims and their families helpless and exposed to serious social and emotional consequences,” argues the parliamentarian.
“The absence of precise rule on the subject cannot allow offenders to remain unpunished while their victims face deep psychological and social impacts,” he adds.
