US President Donald Trump ordered Monday to temporarily suspend the provision of military aid to Ukraine. The aid will be renewed after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Gremsky Trump convinces that he has a real interest in peace negotiations with Russia. TASR reports on this based on AFP and Reuters reports referring to an unnamed White House representative.
“The President made it clear that he wanted peace. We need our partners to commit to this goal. We are stopping and reviewing our help to make sure it will contribute to the solution, “the representative said in a short statement.
According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the decision of the Trump administration concerns the financing of new supplies of weapons to Ukraine. It is also considered to freeze supplies from the stock of the US Department of Defense, which, according to WSJ, would endanger Kiev’s ability to defend itself from the attacks of Russian invasive forces.
“This is not a permanent completion of aid, it is a break,” Fox News quoted a representative of Trump’s administration.
Bloomberg said that the delivery of all American military equipment that is currently not in Ukraine, including weapons transported by air and ships or waiting in transit areas in Poland, will be suspended. Trump commissioned this role to Minister Defense Pete Hegseth.
This announcement came a few hours after Trump told journalists in the White House that he had not yet spoken to the suspension of military aid to Ukraine, adding that Greeding should “appreciate” Washington’s support.
Trump and Zeranskyj met on Friday in the White House, where they were expected to sign an agreement on minerals. However, the meeting ended prematurely after their verbal rupture. Both Trump and his Vice President JD Vance criticized Zelensky that he is not grateful enough for his aid for Ukraine, he is not interested in peace negotiations with Russia and plays with the Third World War.
The Trump’s administration apparently submitted to the green mineral agreement, which did not contain security guarantees for Ukraine, which the Ukrainian President mentioned in front of journalists.
Greens on Sunday after a summit of Western countries leaders in London expressed the belief that the relationship with the US will be preserved, but further negotiations should be held behind the closed door.
