A homeless woman who has gained prominence on social networks in recent months for starring scenes that have generated great repercussion, such as bathing in puddles, suffering aggression and walking naked through the center of Cruzeiro do Sul, interior of Acre, was hospitalized compulsorily this week.

The decision was made by the court, after the case viralizes in the networks and provoke discussions about social vulnerability and the need for more effective care for homeless people.
The woman, who is a drug user, was already accompanied by the Specialized Reference Center for Social Assistance (Creas), was taken to a hospital, where she remains in observation and medical follow -up.

The compulsory hospitalization of homeless people is only allowed by judicial authorization, as occurred in this case. Although there is no specific municipal legislation on the issue, justice may authorize this measure in specific situations, when the person’s safety and well-being are at risk, for example.
According to the Secretary of Social Assistance and Citizenship, Milca Santos, the patient cannot be left alone, which justified the measure of compulsory hospitalization.
“From the hospital, she will be referred to a therapeutic clinic. Meanwhile, the Creas technical team is already in contact with the family, starting the work of family reintegration. This process will also be accompanied by the social assistance services of the municipality of origin of it, with the objective of strengthening the family structure and preventing it from returning to the streets, ”the secretary told Juruá24horas.
