Loulé Carnival 2025 fulfilled its second day of parades this Monday, taking about 10,000 visitors to José da Costa Mealha Avenue, despite not being a holiday across the country. Corso, the oldest in Portugal, has once again stood out for its party environment, satire and creativity.
With 15 floats, the parade brought good mood and social criticism, characteristics that make this carnival a national reference. Today’s political figures and themes were again the target of the Louletano humor, highlighting the car “Country of the Trumpalhada”, where Donald Trump returned to present alongside his former political opponent Kamala Harris. The theme of immigration in the United States was approached satirically, with interpretation of the elements of the Motoclub of Loulé.
The strong participation of local associations and collectivities is one of the distinctive brands of the event. This year, groups such as the Loulé Club Gymnastics, exist, Agal – Association of Friends of Loulé, Tualle – Tuna Afonsina de Loulé, Sports Group of White Barriers, Loulé Motoclub, Doin Association, the traditions of Loulé and the contemporary Fusion. During the three days of celebration, these groups gave life to the characters and episodes of the parade, always with reference to this year’s carnival theme: the water problem.
The Carnival of Loulé, although deeply rooted in the Portuguese tradition, also has a Brazilian touch, thanks to the presence of the Brazilian community residing in the Algarve.
One of the most emblematic figures of the parade is Taty, a dancer who has been leading one of the floats, with a body painted and a lot of samba in the foot, being one of the most photographed figures by tourists visiting Loulé at this time.
For the second consecutive day, thousands of people filled the city streets to watch Corso, reinforcing a tradition dating back to the early twentieth century and renewing each edition.
The Carnival of Loulé 2025 ends this Tuesday, with the last parade from 15:00, at Avenida José da Costa Mealha.
