Police arrest man for abandoning dog in Belém

The Civil Police released on Tuesday (4) the arrest of a man suspected of abandonment and abuse against his own dog in Belém, the capital of Pará.

The investigations began from a complaint that the Animal Protection Police Station (Sapport) received that the animal would have been without care for a week in front of the tutor’s residence in the Santo Onofre passage, Jurunas neighborhood.

The agents went to the scene and confirmed that the dog was quite weakened and presenting an extensive injury and large infection in the ear region.

“The animal was immediately rescued and referred to the Veterinary Hospital, where it received medical care and remains hospitalized,” said Deputy Leandro Lima, head of the Dep.

The tutor was located by the police and filed in the act by animal abuse, according to article 32 of Law No. 9,605/98 (Environmental Crimes Law). The man was referred to the police station and investigations are still in progress.
