Trump says he considers a free trade treaty with Argentina

Republican also confirmed 25% rates on imports from Mexico and Canada, scheduled to start on 3rd (3.mar)

United States President Donald Trump (Republican) said he is considering the possibility of establishing a free trade treaty with Argentina.

The statement was made in a statement at the White House on Monday (3.mar.2025). At the time, Trump praised Argentine President Javier Milei (La Libertad Avanza, right), calling him “Great leader” and stating that he is “Doing a great job” in charge of the South American country.

In February, Milei stated that Argentina would already be negotiating a trade agreement with the United States if it wasn’t for Mercosur.

The Argentine leader made the statement during the CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference). Also that Argentina wants to be the 1st country to join the regime of commercial reciprocity imposed by the US government.

Rates to China, Canada and Mexico

Trump this Monday (3.mar) that from Thursday (4.mar) will take effect the fares about Canada, Mexico and China.

Starting this month, Canada and Mexico will have a 25% rate for products sold to the US while China products will have a 20% tariff – double the 10% initially announced by Trump.

The tariffs for Canada and Mexico had been announced in early February, but were postponed for a month to allow negotiations – they did not advance. “There is no more time for Mexico or Canada”Trump said in a statement at the White House this Monday (3.mar).
