The sanctions raised must be related to entities and oligarchs linked to the Russian regime
The White House is creating a plan to relieve sanctions against Russia, at a time when President Donald Trump is trying to restore Moscowal relations in an attempt to stop war in Ukraine, the agency advances.
According to the sources mentioned, the Trump administration asked the Treasury Department to create a list of easiest US sanctions to be discussed with Russian representatives in a next meeting.
Reuters also states that the main sanctions raised must be related to entities and individuals linked to the Russian regime.
This measure happens at a time when relations between Washington and Kiev began to degrade considerably after the meeting between the Ukrainian President in Trump in the Oval Room.
Of course, however, what measures the White House could get in return for the relief of sanctions. However, both Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin admitted to being willing to negotiate the exploitation of rare land in Russian territory.
Another hypotheses could go through a relief in Russian oil companies, many linked to the most important oligarchs in the Russian regime. This possibility opens the possibility for Trump to be able to lower fuel prices at home, while pressuring Iran.
Sanctions against the Russian oil industry have been one of the main weapons to combat the Russian economy by NATO members. Still, the success of this strategy has been questioned – because part of European countries, including Portugal, continue to buy natural gas and oil to Russia.
The West imposed a $ 60 limit for the purchase of Russian oil, as well as sanctions against some of the Russian ships that carry this oil.
Earlier this year, Trump even threatened to increase sanctions against Russia if Putin was reticent about negotiating the end of the war in Ukraine. However, the tone has become increasingly hostile against Ukraine and with several members of the US government to admit the possible Russian economic relief.
