The government has decided to postpone a traditional foreign journalist exchange program on a timely manner, which this year would have the theme of the media.

The “Edward R Murrow for Journalists: Media Accountability” (“Edward R Murrow for Journalists: Media Responsibility) is part of the IVLP (International Program for Leaders for Visitors). The forecast was for guests to board on Friday (7).

However, American consulates sent on Tuesday (4) email to participants informing that the state department’s office of the state department in the capital Washington reported on Monday afternoon (3) the postponement to the US embassy in Brasilia.

The message also indicates that “there is no new date set for the program” and that new information will be made available as soon as possible.

“I understand that this change can generate inconvenience and apologize for the disorders caused,” adds the email.

The IVLP program, launched in 1940, sends annually to about 5,000 participants. The idea, according to information from the official website, is to help strengthen US involvement with countries and connect current and emerging foreign leaders with their American counterparts through short -term visits to the country.

There is no registration for the IVLP. Participants are nominated and selected every year by the US embassies diplomatic corps around the world.
