Under the theme “This is Portugal”, the traditions, customs and history of the country were the great highlights of the 2025 carnival of height, which encouraged the streets of the locality, in the municipality of Castro Marim, on March 1 and 2. The event, full of color, music and animation, attracted thousands of visitors again, consolidating itself as one of the most authentic parades of the leventy Algarve.
The 22nd edition of the carnival of height was attended by nine floats, several mobile structures and 11 animation groups, providing a vibrant spectacle that celebrated national symbols and Portuguese identity.
This year’s theme highlighted some of the largest icons in the country, such as firefighters, cod, Barcelos Rooster, Fado, Baked Sardines, Madeira Island, Wine, Bread, Popular Saints and Flower Alfanteiras. In addition to praising pride in Portuguese culture, the parade also brought moments of social criticism, reflecting on what can be improved.
The event was prepared over several weeks with the commitment of dozens of volunteers, revelers, associations and informal groups of friends. Arutla once again played an essential role in the creation of facts, floats and the production of thousands of paper flowers, elements that even brighted the parade.
The carnival of height was organized by the Parish Council height, in partnership with, and reinforced its position as one of the most emblematic carnival events in the region.
