How Doli Parton met Carl Dill

The 18 -year -old party met Dean outside the Wishy Washy washing machine on the day he moved to Nashville.

“I was amazed and glad that while he was talking to me, he was looking at my face (something rare for me),” the singer had said for their first encounter. “He seemed to be honestly interested in learning who I was,” he added.

They got married two years later, on May 30, 1966 in Ringgold, Georgia, with the only invite her mother Parton.

The “ghost” wife and inspiration for “Jolene”

Dean maintained a asphalt pavement in Nashville. He had watched a few of the appearances of Candry’s flagship star and was a source of inspiration for the timeless song of Parton, “Jolene”. In 2008, the star had told the NPR that she wrote it on a bank on a bank that flirted with her husband.

The couple has kept total privacy around their relationship for decades, with Parton reporting on the Associated Press in 1984: “Many say that there is no Carl Dean, that they are just someone I devised to keep others away.”
