Egyptian President Abdal Fattáh Sisi on Tuesday after the Summit of the League of Arab States (LaS) in Cairo announced that representatives of the Arab countries had approved his country’s plan for the renewal and development of the war -destroyed Gaza Strip. According to AFP, AP and Reuters reports, TASR reports this.

“It was approved,” Sisi said at the final meeting of the summit to adopt the Gaza renewal plan without the displacement of the Palestinians. This is an alternative plan for the proposal of US President Donald Trump, according to which the US should take control of the Gaza Strip and its residents should move to the surrounding countries.

According to Reuters, he said at the summit that he is sure that Trump would be able to achieve peace in conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant Hamas movement.

Sinful experiments

In the final statement of Tuesday’s summit, there is also a warning against “sinful” attempts to displace Palestinians or annexation of any part of the occupied Palestinian territories.

According to the statement, Arab leaders will set up a fund that will finance the renewal of Gaza and called on the international community to contribute to accelerating the process of renewal by the war -destroyed enclave. In the Communical Summit, the Fund would “accepted financial contributions from all donor countries and financial institutions” for the implementation of the Gaza band renewal projects.

At the same time, the leaders called for the unification of the Palestinians within the Organization for the Liberation of Palestine (PLO), which does not include Hamas.

Reuters claims that in connection with the future of the Palestinian enclave, they are the main questions who will manage the Gaza Strip and which countries will provide funding for its postwar renewal. The Egyptian president said he had worked with the Palestinians to create an administrative committee composed of independent and professional Palestinian technocrats who would be entrusted with the Gaza band. According to Sisi, the Committee would be responsible for supervision of humanitarian aid and management of the enclave matters for a temporary period in preparation for the return of the Palestinian self -government.

What about Hamas?

Another important question is the fate of Hamas. Israel, who wage a war against this movement for more than 15 months, has repeatedly declared that Hamas must be destroyed. Reuters reported on Monday that the Egyptian plan would not count on the Hamas government.

Palestinian President Mahmuda Abbas welcomed the Egyptian proposal. At the summit he said he was planning to organize elections next year if the situation at that time would allow. He also wants to create the post of vice president in his government and grant amnesty to the excluded members of his Fatah party.

The Egyptian plan was also welcomed by the Hamas movement, which claims to support the creation of the Managing Committee.
