Deputy Erika Hilton spoke during the event. “Carnival is also a resistance, struggle, boldness, denunciation. And being able to step on this avenue, bringing the memory, pain and history of Xica Maniclogo is something that fills our heart with hope, that it is possible to build a carnival, a society, an increasingly democratic, diverse, popular and transvestite culture space ”said the parliamentarian to the portal UOL.
Erika was part of the Tuiuti Paradise Front Commission, formed only by trans women. The congressman told how it was to reconcile her deputy agenda with the rehearsals for Carnival. “I had to share deputy life with the life of a front commission, but I think I did my best, which was beautiful, that I did what I expected from me. I surrendered at heart for Tuiuti, me, trans people, the LGBT community and the memory of Xica Manicongo. ”
“The Brazilian Carnival, which is the biggest show in the open world, brings to Rio de Janeiro a first -person samba avenue saying ‘I transvestite’. Xica Manicongo follows alive in every transvestite that lives in this country. The story of Xica Manicgo is a story of struggle, claw, resistance, rebellion, perseverance, just like Carnival ”completed the deputy.
