The compost will provide nutrients and improve the soil structure. It is worth adding a thin layer of compost (about 1 cm) to the surface of the lawn. A wood ash, which contains potassium and other valuable microelements for plants, will also be an effective natural fertilizer. Spread a thin layer on the grass on a rainy day. However, if after winter, empty places appeared on the lawn, it is worth giving grass seeds. Choose a mixture of seeds suitable for soil and climate conditions of the garden. Before sowing, gently hung up with rakes so that the seeds can root well. Do not forget about regular watering and mowing.

The first spring mowing should be carried out at the turn of April and May. However, gardeners advise not to be guided by the calendar and the condition of the lawn and the weather. The grass should reach 8-10 cm and have a juicy green color. The first mowing should also be higher than usual. In the case of commercial lawns, the recommended mowing height is 5-6 cm, in the case of decorative lawns-3-4 cm. After mowing, you need to get the grass. This, of course, does not apply to mowing users with baskets. The treatment must be carried out systematically every 7-10 days, preferably on cloudy, but rainless days. Mowing in full sun can dry the lawn and damage the blades and in the rain. It is important, however, to water the entire surface of the lawn after mowing.

Prevention is the best fight against grubs. Appropriate care can protect the lawn from the appearance of uninvited guests. Therefore, we must not forget about the scarifying. Removing damaged, dry grass shoots and other organic leftovers from the lawn and loosening of thickened soil can significantly protect it from grubs. After mowing, you also need to win the remains thoroughly. The left blades will dry and create so -called Felt – an additional layer of dead organic matter that the grubs feed on. However, if the pests already appear in the garden, you can use a blackout foil. We cover it with a lawn, it seems to be night. Then they go out to the surface, after a few hours you can collect them. This treatment should be repeated for several days. To get rid of grubs, it is worth inviting insectivorous birds to the garden. Hold the breeding booth on a nearby tree and lure it with treats. For pycorek, starlings or flycathes, the rollers are a delicacy. You can also use ready -made preparations to combat pests. For example, a natural tansy extract will work here, which we can prepare ourselves or buy in a gardening store.
