The neighbor of Ukraine calls NATO: "It is still a committed and reliable ally"

The interim president of Romania, Ilie Bolojan, said that the country is a committed and reliable ally for Ukraine, after the US president, Donald Trump, stopped military aid to kyiv, according to .

Trump’s decision comes after a series of meetings at the White House with senior national security officials following the disastrous public meeting with the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, last Viernres.

“NATO is our strongest pillar in defense and Romania remains a committed and reliable ally. We must increase investments to strengthen our defense capacity. Europeans and Americans must work in close collaboration to achieve fair and lasting peace in Ukraine,” Bolojan wrote in the social network X.

Ukraine now seeks in its European partners alternative to the supply of weapons that until now received from the US, whose decision to interrupt the flow of military aid has been applauded by the Kremlin as a positive step to force Ukrainians to accept a peace process.

“It is a decision that, indeed, can push the kyiv A regime (participate in) a peace process,” said Dmitri Peskov, the Russian presidential spokesman, at his telephone press conference this Tuesday.

Peskov asked to wait for information on the freezing of US weapons shipments to be officially confirmed by Washington. At the same time, he affirmed that the decision would be “the greatest contribution to the cause of peace” that the US President Donald Trump can do.

Meanwhile, from kyiv, the Ukrainian presidential advisor Mikhail Podoliak explained in his social networks that Ukraine already examines what weapons he now receives from Washington can be produced jointly with other partners or acquired from different countries.

He added that Ukraine has conversations with his European partners to find new options in the situation created by the possible interruption of US aid. Podoliak added that kyiv continues to consider the option to negotiate with the US so that Washington does not end the assistance he provides to Ukraine.
