The Blue Ghost robot will record images of eclipse and lunar phenomena with support from NASA
A released this Thursday (4.mar.2025) the images of the landing of the robotic module Blue Ghost on the lunar surface. The alunissage, held on Sunday (2.mar), was the 2nd already made by a private company in the Natural Satellite of Earth.
The descent was carried out in the region of Great Crisiumlocated on the visible side of the moon. Funded by, the mission Ghost Riders in the Sky It took 10 scientific instruments, including a GPS receiver, a radiation -resistant computer, and a helospheric x -ray telescope.
O Blue Ghost It should operate for about two weeks, a period corresponding to the lunar day. With the arrival of the night, the module will lose its functioning capacity.
During this time, the module is expected to record high definition images of a total eclipse on March 14, when the earth will block sunlight on the lunar horizon.
It is also planned to capture a lunar sunset on March 16, allowing a study of the phenomenon of levitant dust on the surface of the moon.
Watch Firefly land on the Moon! After identifying surface hazards and selecting a safe landing site, landed directly over the target in Mare Crisium. A historic moment on March 2 we’ll never forget. We have Moon dust on our boots!

New attempted alunissage
On Thursday (6.mar), the Athena (nicknamed Addie) module will also land on the moon. The model belongs to, the 1st company to perform a commercial alunite, in February 2024. At the time, the Odysseus module landed unstably, reducing its operational capacity.
To avoid similar problems, Intuitive Machines improved Athena’s design, which has a higher and higher profile compared to Blue Ghost. The module was launched on February 26 aboard a Spacex rocket and follows a direct route to Mons Moutonyour planned landing place.
