So an author not only managed to describe the tornness of a young woman who emigrated to the United States, trained in Princeton and now from homesickness to Nigeria. Around the blogger ifemelu, she created a broad picture: the worlds of thought and opportunities meet with the cultures. With one foot, the 600-page surgery was in a love story, with the other in discourses about racism and postcolonialism. The book won a few prizes, was chosen among the best of the decade – and then nothing followed for a long time.
