Signed in November last year, the billionaire contract that turned the Portuguese into a corporation of football (SAF) and saved the bankruptcy team will finally be approved in the coming days, after an internal imbroglio put the business at risk.
The consortium formed by Tauá Partners, Revee and XP Investimentos acquired 80% of the club’s shares in exchange for an investment of more than $ 1 billion in the coming years.
The deal, however, was almost undone due to the last minute inclusion of a paragraph in the Minutes of the General Member of Partners. The stretch that prevented the approval of the business in the Paulista Football Federation (FPF) was included by Marcos Lico, president of the Assembly.
The leader alleged the existence of caveats made by the Fiscal Guidance Council (COF) so as not to give the definitive endorsement to the business.
SAF suffered restrictions such as buying and selling players
The imbroglio took the SAF by surprise, which was prevented from registering the business, and could not buy and sell players and receive FPF funds referring to quotas.
CNN found that the Portuguese-coating partner and president of the Portuguese SAF, Alex Bourgeois, was annoyed by the manager’s maneuver and threatened to end the deal.
The movement caused revolt in the Lusa fans, who moved to prevent the implosion of SAF and the possible bankruptcy of the team.

The rectification of the document was signed on Wednesday and sent to the FPF.
“I am happy to solve this as best I can. From the beginning, I believed that the Portuguese would be able to align this issue internally, respecting the desire of the counselors, associates and, above all, the fans, who supported us from the beginning, ”SAF president told CNN.
