Trump’s recent decision to impose 25% tariffs on neighboring countries and 20% to China products has already led to retaliation and climbing in the trade war

The trade war started by the president of,, generated seizure between investors and Brazilian authorities. The vice president and Minister of Development of Brazil, has a meeting on Thursday (6) scheduled for video conferencing with the Secretary of Commerce of the United States, Howard Lutnick. This meeting occurs only two days after Trump mention Brazil as a possible target of new tariffs. Alckmin and Lutnick are expected to discuss sectors that can be affected by these taxes, especially the steel and aluminum sector, which will face new rates to export to the US market from next week.

Experts in International Relations, such as Professor Lier Pires Ferreira, warn that Trump’s aggressive stance could result in economic isolation from the United States, negatively impacting the global economy. Ferreira notes that Trump still seems to be in a campaign mode, without fully realizing his role as president of all Americans. Meanwhile, the financial market closely monitors the actions of the White House. Recently, the dollar had a significant drop of 2.71%, closing at R $ 5,756, influenced by Trump’s decision to postpone in one month the imposition of tariffs on cars imported from Mexico and Canada.

Economist André Perfect points out that the devaluation of the dollar reflects a positive reaction from investors to the relaxation of US business policies, which reduces the aversion to risk and favors currencies from emerging countries, such as the real. Perfect sees a certain optimism for Brazil, considering that the Brazilian economy can complement that of the United States.

However, he warns that if there is excessive tightening, the world economy can slow down, limiting the benefits to Brazil and that Itamaraty, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Ministry of Agriculture should be aware of the opportunities that arise from US tariff policies. Trump’s recent decision to impose 25% fees on neighboring countries and 20% on China products has already led to retaliation and climbing in the trade war.
