The plans of the new federal government to stop family reunification for recognized refugees and people with recognized protection status will be examined by the EU Commission for compatibility with EU rules in the coming weeks. “We have to take the situation very seriously in Austria,” said EU interior commissioner Magnus Brunner after the meeting of EU Interior Minister in Brussels Monday evening, “because we have the same goal, here in the council, namely that we have to reduce the number of migration”.
