Hummingbird is the great champion of Rio de Janeiro Carnival. The Nilópolis School, in Baixada Fluminense, won its 15th title this Wednesday (5.mar.2025).
With the plot “Laila de Todos os Santos”, the school paid tribute to the Carnival director Laila, who died in 2021. The parade also marked the farewell of Neguinho da Beija-Flor as the school’s official interpreter after 50 carnivals. The double mission was in charge of the carnival João Vitor Araújo.
In 2nd place was the great river, followed by Empress Leopoldinense. Already Unidos de Padre Miguel received the worst grades and will parade in the Gold series next year.
The school that will be raised to the Rio Carnival elite will only be known on Thursday (6.mar). The Gold Series would also be held at the 4th grayship fair, shortly after reading the notes of the special group, but the date was modified this year.

Award
It has not yet been released how much the winning samba schools will win. According to information from SPTuris (São Paulo Turismo), the last awards released, 2023, was R $ 82,000 for the champion of that year, the Youth Alegre.
