Reuters: Trump plan for expulsion 240,000 Ukrainians - What involves

The US president’s administration plans to remove the provisional legal status for about 240,000 Ukrainians who fled their country after the conflict with Russia, which may put them in the process of expulsion, reveals Reuters.

This move, which is expected to be as soon as possible until April, will be a major overthrow of the reception of Ukrainians under the command of President Joe Biden.

The plan to overthrow the legal regime of Ukrainian refugees existed before last week at the White House, and is part of the wider US government’s wider effort to lift the protection regime from more than 1.8 million immigrants allowed to enter the US.

US Department of Interior Safety spokesman Trisia Mclaflin said the ministry has not announced anything so far. The White House and the Ukrainian Embassy did not respond to Reuters commentary requests.

Trump’s executive decree issued on January 20 was urging the Ministry of Home Affairs (DHS) to “terminate all license concessions”.

The administration plans to withdraw the residence permit for about 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelanes as soon as possible in the month. The plan of revocation of the residence permit for these nationalities was first mentioned by CBS News.

Immigrants who will be deprived of their residence permit may deal with rapid expulsion procedures.

Immigrants crossing the border illegally can enter the rapid deportation process for two years after their entry. However, for those who have entered through legal entry points without officially “allowing” their entry into the US – as is the case with those who are under a residence permit – there is no time for their rapid removal.

Biden’s programs were part of a broader attempt to create temporary legal paths to prevent irregular migration and provide humanitarian aid.

In addition to the 240,000 Ukrainians who escaped the Russian invasion, and the 530,000 Cubans, Aitians, Nicarasians and Venezuelans, these programs covered more than 70,000 Afghans who escaped from the occupation of Afghanistan by the Taliban.

A 1 million additional immigrants planned to pass through legal border crossing points and thousands had access to smaller programs, such as giving a residence permit to reunite families for specific people in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Trump, as a candidate, had promised to end Biden’s programs, saying they were beyond the limits of US law.
