The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) vehemently repudiated the act of racism committed against Palmeiras players during a match against Cerro Porteño by Libertadores U20, held in Paraguay.

The case happened 36 minutes into the second stage. At the field departure after being replaced, Figueiredo was the target of a fan who imitated a monkey for the Brazilian player. Luighi, who also came out.
Palmeiras, by official note, classified the episode as “disgusting” and ensured that it will seek the punishment of those involved until the last instances. The club expressed solidarity with the athletes and emphasized that “racism is a crime” and that impunity contributes to the perpetuation of these cowardly acts.
