Depression Jana brings wind, rain, sea turmoil and snowfall

All district districts are from this Friday under yellow warning due to the effects of Jana depression, which will also bring wind, sea agitation and snowfall, according to the IPMA.

According to the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), this depression will be almost stationary to the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula until Monday, with a cold front surface and another system with transport of a cold air mass over the wood archipelago.

Thus, according to the institute, periods of rainfall are scheduled for Friday, which will sometimes be strong for the passage of the cold front surface, passing to the regime of showers, which will remain until Sunday.

These sweater will occur in the form of snow above 1,500 meters of altitude on Saturday.

It is also foreseen strong wind with gusts of the order of 80 kilometers per hour (km/h), and can reach 110 km/h in the highlands, and maritime agitation.

Because of the aggravation of the time state, IPMA issued yellow warning to all districts on the continent between 12:00 and 15:00 this Friday and again between 03:00 and 09:00 Saturday.

It was also issued yellow warning of wind to the districts of Porto, Viseu, Guarda, Faro, Vila Real, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga for this Friday and Saturday.

As for the ripple, the IPMA issued orange warning to the districts of Faro, Porto, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja and Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga to Sunday and Monday, then yellow.

Under orange warning are also the Guarda and Castelo Branco districts between 9:00 pm on Saturday and 00:00 on Monday.

The IPMA issued yellow warning to Castelo Branco, Guarda, Bragança, Viseu and Vila Real for Saturday and Sunday due to the forecast of snowfall.

Also the Madeira Archipelago will be affected by the depression Jana and the IPMA issued orange warning to the north coast of Madeira Island and Porto Santo between Saturday and Monday because of the strong maritime agitation, predicting northwest waves with 05 to0 6 meters, with maximum height that can reach 11 meters.

The Madeira archipelago is still under yellow warning due to the strong wind and rain from this Friday.

Orange warning is issued by whenever there is a moderate to high -risk meteorological situation and yellow when there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the meteorological situation.

The aggravation of the state of time led to the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (Anepc) to alert the population to the possibility of flooding and accidents.
