English soccer team agreement was closed with JP Morgan bank; Arena will have a capacity of 52,888 spectators
It announced it on Thursday (06.mar.2025) a refinancing package of 350 million pounds for the works of its new stadium in Liverpool. The operation was conducted by Banco JP Morgan.
The agreement replaces previous loans for the construction of the arena with a capacity of 52,888 spectators, which began in August 2021, with an initial budget of £ 500 million.
The stadium is expected to be delivered for the use of the English football club in the second half of 2025, at the time of the beginning of season 2025/26.
Financial restructuring aims to relieve the club’s debt, which reached about 1 billion euros. The new agreement promises to reduce interest payments by half.
The stadium, designed by US Dan Meis, is expected as an architectural landmark and an economic catalyst for Liverpool, with the potential to generate 1.3 billion pounds for the local economy.
In addition to Premier League games, the stadium will serve as an event center, including sports, conferences and is in the race to host European Championship games of 2028.
The transition from Goodison Park, founded in 1892, to the new stadium, on the Bramley-Moore docks, on the banks of the Mersey River, is seen as an opportunity to revitalize the club’s finances.
Everton held the 1st of 3 test events in February, with the under-18 team facing Wigan against 10,000 fans. A second event is scheduled for March 23, expecting 25,000 spectators. A final event, close to total capacity, will still be scheduled.
