The French president accused his Russian counterpart of being a “imperialist” in “revisionism”, arguing that he had “reversed history”.
“Napoleon made conquests. The only imperialist power I see today in Europe is called, “said Emmanuel Macron. Apparently, referring to his Russian counterpart, he described him as “an imperialist reviewer of the history and identity of the peoples”.
The French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte invaded the Russian Empire in 1812 and arrived to conquer Moscow, but his campaign resulted in a devastating retreat, with heavy losses and eventually Russian victory.
Insisting on the “reversal” of the story, Mr Macron also said during a press conference that followed that “no doubt” the Russian president “was annoyed that we revealed his game”.
The leader of the French state argued that if Russia wants a ceasefire in its talks with Donald Trump’s US talks, it is not due to its desire to have a “constant peace” but its seeking to prepare to “resume war”.
Putin: “Some have forgotten what Napoleon did”
It is recalled that Vladimir Putinmililemillez is a day in which the French president called Russia a threat to Europe and developed the idea of putting other European countries under the nuclear umbrella, other European countries said yesterday (6/3) that some people have forgotten what happened to Napoleon.
The Russian president referred to the French emperor who crossed Russia with his army and arrived in Moscow in 1812, but was then forced to retreat because of the relentless winter after suffering huge losses.
‘We need nothing else but we will not retreat’
“There are still people who want to go back to Napoleon’s era, forgetting how it is over,” Putin said in a commentary on television, without mentioning Macron.
The Russian president also said that Russia should choose a peace in Ukraine, which would ensure the security of Russia and its substantive development in the long run.
