The Ministry of Sport issued a note repudiating the case of racism against Palmeiras players on Thursday (6) in Paraguay.
“The Ministry of Sport expresses its profound indignation and repudiation of the acts of racism suffered by Palmeiras U-20 players, especially athlete Luighi, during the match against Cerro Porteño for the Copa Libertadores U-20,” says the note.
The ministry reiterates that “racism is a crime and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. This ministry will require, together with the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol), a strict investigation of what happened and the application of the applicable sanctions to those in force. ”
Racism and tears
A case of racism against Palmeiras players marked the 3-0 victory of Verdon over Cerro Porteño for the second round of Libertadores under-20. One of the victims of the situation, Luighi cried after the incident and came into a clash with a reporter who avoided asking about what happened.
The paraguayan club has not yet spoken about the case.
“Is that serious? Won’t you ask about the act of racism they did to me? How long will we pass this? What they did to me was a crime, won’t you ask me about it? Are you going to ask about the game? What will Conmebol do what about this? The CBF? I don’t know… you wouldn’t ask about it. What they did to me is a crime, we are training, we are learning from it, ”said the young promise.
How long will racism be neglected?
You are giant, Luighi! 👏🏿
