Three Bulgarian citizens FThey were considered guilty of espionage by Russia at Old Bailey in London,
Before the trial started, two other group members had declared equally guilty.
The group was part of a spy network that operated between 2020 and 2023 under the direction of the former director of operations at Wirecard, Jan Marsalek, who was under the name of Rupert Ticz.
Prosecutors believe Marsalek was recruited by Russian secret services in 2014 and fled to Moscow after the fraudulent payment group activity was exposed in 2020.
In court, messages were shown on Telegram that suggest that Marsalek – which was not accused – He was giving tasks to the Bulgarian group on behalf of Russia’s military secret services and internal secret services.
Marsalek conveyed the orders of his Russian chiefs to the group leader, Orlin Roussev who managed his activities from his home in Great Yarouth.
