The United States Federal Aviation (FAA) administration said on Friday that Spacex’s Starship model the day previously damaged about 240 flights, and wreckage concerns had more than two dozen aircraft had to divert their way.
It was the second explosion followed by a Spacex Test Release.
On Thursday, FAA issued orders-which lasted just over an hour-so that aircraft were on the ground, referring to Florida: Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Palm Beach airports. FAA reported that the incident resulted in 171 delays in the takeoffs, 28 diverted flights and 40 retained for an average of 22 minutes, while the agency’s wreckage response area was active. The average delay of 171 planes was 28 minutes.
FAA also said it is demanding from Spacex an investigation into the loss of the Starship vehicle.
FAA approved Spacex’s launch license for Thursday’s flight-test last month, while its investigation into the Starship’s previous failure was still open.
The agency said it analyzed Spacex’s request and the first details of the investigation, before determining that the eighth flight of the Starship could proceed.

Videos on social networks showed wreckage on flames crossing the sky at dusk near southern Florida and Bahamas. The Starship disintegrated in space shortly after starting to spin uncontrollably with its engines turned off, showed a live broadcast of the mission by Spacex.
The failure of the eighth Starship test occurred just over a month after the seventh also ended in an explosion. The two consecutive accidents occurred in the early stages of the mission, which previously Spacex had surpassed with some ease. It was thus a setback for a program that Elon Musk tries to accelerate this year.
This Friday, Musk called the explosion “a small setback”.
