One of the greatest spiders in Europe, the Spanish spider Macrutele Calpeiana, was first observed in the United Kingdom.
Dailymail reported about this.
This spider is known for its large dimensions – the females reach 34 mm, and the males are slightly smaller. It is the only European species of spider protected by international treaties, especially by the Bern Convention. Previously, its area was limited to the Iberian Peninsula and northern Africa. According to British Arachnological Society, the macrophe is considered aggressive and can cause a painful bite, although its venom is not fatal to humans. The spider lives in a cloth in the form of a pelvic, spends most of his time in the nest and goes out at night.
The specialists note that the males become mature after eight mutations and a year and a half of life, and after reproduction they die. Females, on the other hand, reach maturity after nine mutations and lay up to 100 eggs.
The uniqueness of the macrofel also consists of the “huge appetite”, because it is capable of destroying large and even small vertebrates.
