European Union Foreign Chief Kaja Kallas said today that it is essential to “intensify our military support” to Ukraine after the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, denounces those that occurred last night, local time.
In his X profile, Kallas stated that “once again Vladimir Putin shows that he has no interest in peace.” She highlighted the importance of strengthening military aid to Ukrainians, because “otherwise, even more Ukrainian civilians will pay the highest price.”
Kallas ‘position is in tune with the recent EU leaders’ speech, seeking to increase defense investments and reduce the dependence of the United States in the sector in Europe. On Thursday, European Union leaders approved an 800 billion euros plan for defense investments, as well as a measure to make budget restrictions easier and facilitate continent rearmament.
Yesterday, Poland Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that and expand his regular army to strengthen his defensive abilities. This week, France President Emmanuel Macron also defended the need to argue that the safety of the continent is directly threatened by war in Ukraine.
