MP continues to investigate Fernando Medina and Duarte Cordeiro in three processes

The processes are linked to Operation Tutti-Frutti. Neither Medina nor Lamb were called to make statements.

The Public Prosecution Service (MP) maintains Fernando Medina and Duarte Cordeiro under investigation in three distinct processesalthough both have been recently unlawful in the context of Operation Tutti-Frutti.

According to information confirmed by the Attorney General’s Office to Correio da Manhã, the lawsuits are pending at the Lisbon Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) and investigations began in 2017.

The processes in question have direct links to Operation Tutti-Frutti, namely by evidence transferlike listening and e -mail copies. One of the inquiries, identified with number 118/19, requested, in 2020, access to the emails of Fernando Medina and Duarte Cordeiro since September 2016, with the purpose of investigating suspicions of passive and active corruption. This case also includes the analysis of direct adjustment contracts made by the Lisbon Authority with the companies Tanagra and Tanagra II, during the presidency of Medina.

A second process, under the number 6930/17, investigates possible crimes of PREVARICATION AND ABUSE OF POWER. Also in this inquiry were requested from Operation Tutti-Frutti copies of the emails of Medina and former Councilman Manuel Salgado.

The third open process involves hiring the company of Joaquim Morão, former socialist mayor, for the Municipal Works Supervision. In this investigation, the MP analyzes the possible practice of crimes of economic participation in business and abuse of power, involving Medina and Lamb again.

Despite the ongoing investigations, both Fernando Medina and Duarte Cordeiro They have never been formally called to make statements.

‘Operation Tutti Frutti’ began in 2016 and has so far resulted in a accusation against 60 defendants. However, other parallel processes have been filed over the years, including investigations related to suspicions of prevarication, abuse of power and corruption.

The MP continues to collect evidence and evaluate the possibility of new steps, maintaining a focus on any irregularities in the management of the Lisbon Chamber during the Medina term.
