Brazilian and foreign entrepreneurs will launch a group similar to B20 – Private Sector Representation Forum of the G20 – to generate contributions to the 30th United Nations Climate Conference (COP 30).
Under the leadership of the National Industry Confederation (CNI), the Sustainable Business COP 30 (SB COP) group will be released next Monday, 10. The announcement will take place at the Confederation headquarters in Brasilia and will be attended by government authorities and entrepreneurs.
The initiative seeks to mobilize leaders from companies, unions, associations, federations and confederations for sustainable development. The president of CNI, Ricardo Alban, evaluates that the creation of this space for business representativeness in COP 30 negotiations is important, because the fight against climate change will only have effect with the participation of the productive sector.
About O Sustainable Business Cop 30
The command of Sustainable Business COP 30 under the Brazilian leadership will be from former Raízen and Cosan, Ricardo Mussa. According to CNI, the group has the goal of preparing recommendations during COP 30 and presenting them to government authorities, formalizing private sector commitments to reduce greenhouse gases (GHG) and develop actions, aiming to advance a positive climate agenda.
In addition, to discuss priority issues, SB COP will have 6 thematic axes: energy transition; Circular and material economy; Bioeconomics; Fair transition; Climate financing; and food security.
CNI’s executive secretary and superintendent of Environment and Sustainability, David Bomtempo, says the new initiative will list up to three recommendations. “Thus, the focus can be maintained and the goals, in fact, achieved, with transparency and commitment of companies in this process of sustainable transition,” he says.
