Interim president of, Senator Humberto Costa (PE) told the Sheet which is an “uncompromising defender” of and that will not make public clashes with the Minister of Finance, one of the marks of the management of his predecessor, the Federal Deputy (PT-PR).
“I have no great pretense to get involved in this kind of debate. I am a supporter of the work of Minister Fernando Haddad, I understand that he is doing very good economic management. It will not be my role, with this provisional, this interim, wanting to put great opinions about these things,” he said.
Gleisi’s management was marked by divergences on Haddad fiscal adjustment measures to balance the public accounts. She maintained that the party needed to “make the debate of ideas” and that it was the function of the PT to help pull the government to the left, as the president was elected by a wide front.
The PT, for example, recommended last year that benches evaluated “in depth” and discuss with the government the impacts of the Bill that changed rules of access to the BPC (continued benefit benefit), paid aid to elderly and people with low -income disabilities. The text was eventually dehydrated.
Gleisi will move away from the PT presidency to take over on Monday as Minister of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations and will be of the Lula administration. She takes the place of Alexandre Padilha (PT), moved to the position of Minister of Health.
On Friday (7), the PT National Executive Committee for the party’s command post until July 6, when the internal election will take place in which the affiliates will choose the new municipal, state and national presidents.
The interim president of the PT says he will not be a candidate about the election. The disputes occur even in the Costa Current itself, the CNB (building a new Brazil), a group to which Lula, Haddad and Gleisi belong.
Lula’s favorite to command the acronym is the former mayor of Araraquara Edinho Silva (PT), CNB, but other current groups want to run for office, such as the government leader in the House, Deputy José Guimarães (CE). There are also wings left with other candidates.
“I have no pretense to compete. Neither at this moment nor for the next moment. I am interim president. I go to the beginning of July and will naturally support some candidate for president with whom I have identity,” he told Sheet.
Although he anticipates that he will not make public clashes with Haddad, in a different conduct from Gleisi’s adopted, Costa praised her posture and said that everyone will “be surprised” in the ministry. “She is a person open to dialogue, able to find understandings,” said the senator.
He agrees that the party must position itself on the issues involving the government and economic policy, but anticipates that it will choose a more discreet stance to make the transition. “I have my position. I’m an uncompromising defender of Minister Haddad, but that won’t be on our radar during this time,” he said.
Costa’s priorities in four months will be to organize the internal election, stimulate the entry of new affiliates and defend the approval, by Congress, and the expansion of the income tax exemption range for those who earn up to $ 5,000.
“At this time, it will be a lot of mobilization to press Congress to approve these measures,” said the parliamentarian, who points out resistance from part of society to these matters.
The strategy is to have the participation of parliamentarians, student and social movements to publicize and defend these projects. He also intends to use PT’s party propaganda on television and radio to publicize the proposals.
