The president said on Friday that he was considering imposing additional sanctions and duties in Russia in an attempt to bring Moscow to the negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.
“Based on the fact that Russia is’ completely ‘pounding’ Ukraine on the battlefield at the moment, I am strongly considering imposing large -scale bank sanctions, sanctions and duties in Russia until a ceasefire and final agreement on the Trust is reached.
The latest developments in the field of negotiations
Trump’s threat of sanctions against Russia comes a few days before members of his government meet with Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia to discuss a course towards the end of war.
The same government officials had met with their Russian counterparts in Riyadh last month.
The US president has spoken with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski and Russian President Vladimir Putin about the conflict, although he has criticized Zelenski, while the United States has suspended military assistance and exchanging information.

Russia launched a complete scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 after gathering troops on the border and demanded Ukraine’s ban from ever joining NATO. The invasion took place almost a decade after Crimea was attached to Russia to Ukraine in 2014.
The Biden government imposed numerous sanctions on Moscow in the years that followed the start of the war, including affecting Russia’s energy sector, its defense and various other aspects of the Russian economy to try to paralyze funding.
