Julio Lopes (PP-RJ) calls for clarification on impacts of negotiation between the company and the government in the works of Angra 3
The deputy and president of the FPN (Mixed Parliamentary Front of Technology and Nuclear Activities), (PP-RJ), sent a letter to the Minister of Mines and Energy, in which it calls for clarification on the status of financial obligations relating to the conclusion of the Angra 3 Nuclear Plant against the agreement between the company and the federal government.
Like the Poder360the negotiation that yielded 2 more seats in the former state -owned board of directors to the government resulted in the suspension of the company’s investments in the company that manages the plants of Angra 1, 2 and 3.
According to Lopes, the terms presented by the government are not clear about who will be responsible for guaranteeing contracts for construction sites, project pieces and other inputs necessary for the continuity of the construction activities of the Angra 3 plant.
“Given the strategic interest of the parliamentary front and the relevance of the theme for the Brazilian nuclear sector, we request detailed information about the mechanisms provided for in the agreement to ensure the correct destination of resources and the continuity of Angra 3 activities without compromising the planning of other plants.”says the document. The suspension of investment obligations in Eletronuclear was one of the conditions for Eletrobras to agree to increase government participation in the company’s board of directors, as well as assigning a seat in the fiscal council.
Both the president of the president (PT) and Eletrobras agreed to open a new process in the CCAF (House of Mediation and Conciliation of the Federal Public Administration) of the Supreme Court (Supreme Court) to deal with the investment plan to complete the Angra 3 nuclear plant and the contributions that Eletrobras should make if the government decides to continue the project.
The week following the announcement of the agreement, the Minister of AGU (General Advocacy of the Union), Jorge Messias, that the agreement between Union and Eletrobras will result in “Creation of the conditions to rescue nuclear energy production in Brazil”.
