Slovakia will have to consolidate public finances up to EUR 2.3-2.4 billion next year, originally only EUR 600-800 million. Opposite to how to reduce the deficit in the state budget is the audit of the necessary number of officials of the state and public administration, but also the addressal energy or investment. Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) said this in politics Sunday.
The Prime Minister indicated that the government should deal with the parameter of the optimal number of officials per 1,000 inhabitants in consolidation, but admitted that this was a complicated topic. “Let’s put together all officials, not only in the state administration, because Slovakia is very complicated in terms of functioning, we have local self -government, cities and municipalities, we have regional self -government, ie higher territorial units and we have the state, state administration. They were expecting, “Fico said.
Another possible savings of public finances is the transition from the price subsidy of energy prices for residents to the address energy, which, according to the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Economy works intensively. Minister of Minister Denisa Sakova (Voice-SD) addressing aid to low-income groups of residents has not yet proposed due to lack of time to prepare it.
“Once again I want to say that we will certainly protect the energy prices in 2026. If the Minister comes with some addressing system, let’s look at it, if it is acceptable, we will certainly accept,” Fico stressed. The Prime Minister added that the Finance Ministry will look for other ways of consolidation, such as the cutting of spending.
The basis for reducing the deficit should be a massive growth of the economy. According to the Prime Minister, it should also contribute to the support of investments, which includes the planned flashlight GOTION INOBAT BATTERIES in Šurany. The Prime Minister is not afraid that the transactional tax that the state will start to collect from entrepreneurs from April should be disadvantaged by Slovakia in obtaining new investments.
Fico also returned to the conclusions of the European Union Summit, which also received a mention of gas transit through the territory of Ukraine. According to the Prime Minister, it is a great success of Slovak diplomacy, which gives him a strong mandate for negotiations. Immediately after the publication of these conclusions, Sak was negotiating in Brussels on possible supplies of Azerbaijan gas.
