Iran’s military maneuvers, Russia and China in the Gulf of Oman aim to strengthen cooperation and security in the region.
The naval units of Iran, Russia and China will be involved in military exercise off the coast of Iran in an effort to strengthen cooperation, the Iranian media reported on Sunday. TASR write about it according to AFP.
According to AFP, these countries share a common desire to face American hegemony and have organized several similar exercises in the region in recent years.
Maneuvers start in the port of Chabahar in the Gulf of Omani
The maneuvers will “start on Tuesday in the port of Chabahar” in the Gulf of Oman in the southeast of Iran, the government’s Tasni news agency did not specify how long they will last. They will be involved in war ships and combat and supportive vessels of the Chinese and Russian naval forces, as well as the war ships of Iran’s naval forces and revolutionary guards.
They will take place “in the North Indian Ocean” and their aim is to “strengthen security in the region and expand multilateral cooperation between participating countries”, Tasni said.
Azerbaijan, South Africa, Oman, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Qatar, Iraq, United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka will participate as observers. China will deploy a “destroyer and a supply ship”, said the Beijing Ministry of Defense on the WECHAT social network.
In February, the Iranian army carried out exercises in the same area in order to “strengthen defense skills against any threat”.
