Napa with the Song Festival trophy
The song “Dislocated”, played by Napa, won the 58th Festival of Song today and, therefore, will represent Portugal at the 68th Eurovision Song Festival in May in Switzerland.
The winning theme was chosen through the usual voting system: half of the score is attributed by a jury, composed of representatives of seven regions of mainland Portugal and islands, and the other half by the public vote.
The song of the Madeirans Napa was second in the public vote and in fourth place in the jury, with a total of 17 points. Diana Vilarinho’s song “Elastovia” also got the same score.

In the final of the 58th Song Festival, which began on Saturday night and ended around 01:00 today, and which took place at the RTP studios in Lisbon, 12 themes were in competition.

The semifinals of the 69th Eurovision Song Festival are scheduled to May 13th and 15th and the final for May 17th. Portugal operates in the first semifinal.
Last year, in the 68th edition, which took place in Malmo, Sweden, the Portuguese representative, Iolanda, reached 10th place with the song “Scream”.
Portugal participated for the first time at the Eurovision Song Festival in 1964, but has failed five editions (in 1970, 2000, 2002, 2013 and 2016).
In 2017, Portugal won for the first and only time The contest with the song “Love by the Two”, by Luísa Sobral, played by Salvador Sobral.
