Low hot water pressure can make the use of, for example, a bathtub less comfortable. The reason for this can be trivial, but sometimes the fault is much more serious.
Usually, this problem is caused by a partially blocked or stuffed mixing valve (it is responsible for regulating water flow). Sometimes the faulty pressure regulator is to blame – when it stops working properly, the pressure drops, especially when it comes to warm water. Another reason may be an improper shut -off valve, e.g. under the sink. In a situation where it is fully open, the water flow will be smaller. Importantly, often If used several taps at the same time, the flow can be smaller – this may result from an old or poorly functioning heater. Used parts, e.g. seals, may also be a problem.
Minerals embedding in the pipes are also often caused. Calcium and magnesium accumulate inside them, which reduces the diameter of the pipes over time, limiting water flow. In the long run, such a sediment creates a stone that can cause corrosion, in extreme situations there may be completely clogging or cracking of the pipe. This problem is increased by heat water, because the higher temperature causes the minerals to be precipitated faster and settle on the walls.

Often in such a situation there is a need to help a plumber, but before you call it, check the entire installation, if the problem concerns only one tap, then the culprit can be, among others sealwhich is easy to replace yourself. It is also worth checking the cutting valves under the sink or bathtubs – which is important, checking them, the water supply should be cut off. In the case of clogging, you can sometimes cope alone, however, in most situations, it is better to call a plumber.
And what task can you easily do yourself? This is primarily cyclical removal of minerals. You need a preparation that can be made at home. For this purpose, a 1: 1 vinegar solution with water will work. The water installation components should be laid for such a mixture for a few hoursthe embedded stone should dissolve and allow the elements to be cleaned with a brush. Cyclic battery cleaning will allow you to extend its service life and reduce low water flow.
Another activity that you can do yourself is the replacement of the gasket. The cyclical replacement of this element prevents leaks and extends the life of the equipment. For this work you will need: new gaskets tailored to the battery model, adjustable key, silicone grease, screwdriver and cloth. At the beginning, cut off the water supply, remove the battery housing and remove the thermostatic head with the key, then listen to the used seals, lubricating them after this grease. Finally, put on the battery in the reverse order and check if the water is leaking. In case of doubt, it is best to use the help of a plumber.
