In 2024, about 862 thousand cases were reported, a 93.8% reduction compared to 2022
Brazil’s recently released data that reveals a significant reduction in cases and deaths from in the country. In 2024, approximately 862 thousand cases were reported, representing a 54% drop compared to 2023 and an impressive 93.8% reduction compared to 2022, when more than 14 million cases were recorded. The deaths also decreased dramatically, with a 59.6% reduction compared to 2023 and 92% compared to 2022, when more than 74,000 deaths were reported. In 2024, the number of deaths fell to 5,959.
Preliminary data of 2025 continues to show a fall trend. Until February 25, 130,50,507 cases and 664 deaths were reported. In the same period of 2024, 310,000 cases and more than 1,500 deaths had already been registered. This reduction in numbers occurs the week when they are five years since the arrival of COVID-19 to Brazil in March 2020.
