The former mayor of Araraquara (SP) and pre-candidate for the president of the PT, criticized in a publication on Instagram on Sunday (9.mar.2025) the use of the president’s image (PT) as a weapon of internal dispute of the acronym. He cited the leak of a closed meeting with Lula and a petista current, the CNB (building a new Brazil), in which the chief executive would have been warned of resistance to the name of Edinho.
“President Lula goes to a meeting so we can build unity. And it is leaked to the press as an instrument of internal struggle. We cannot accept. I am very outraged by what happened, the way it happened ”these.

Lula would have participated, on Thursday (6.mar), a meeting at the former president’s house and the Minister of Institutional Relations with representatives of CNB. The report made to him would be that Edinho faces resistance to the command of the subtitle and that the petista and the deputy should support another name.
According to Edinho, the meeting was to unify the party, being leaked by those who use Lula for their personal projects within the PT, to the detriment of the collective projects of the acronym.
“We saw on the last Thursday, certainly one of the greatest gestures that President Lula made to maintain the unity of our party. He went to a part, a group meeting, one of our chains. We cannot accept, 1st, that President Lula is used otherwise how it was used as a result of this meeting ”he declared.
Edinho also said he was always with Gleisi and faced historical friends within the PT to support the now former president in his elections. Still, he stated that he will accept if she does not choose him as a successor.
“For me, Gleisi is the greatest president in PT history. And I was with Gleisi both times she was a candidate for president…But I will also respect, if I am not the candidate of Gleisi, Because I think this is how it has to be a party. We have to respect the positions that are different from ours ”these.
