North Korea leader visited shipyard and said nuclear weaponry is crucial to the country’s sovereignty
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un appeared on Saturday (8.mar.2025) alongside what he claimed to be the 1st submarine with nuclear propulsion in the country. In images released by the state channel Krtthe leader inspect a shipyard alongside other government members with a large vessel in the background.
According to KRT, Kim Jong-un also made a statement in which he said the nuclear weaponry “Crucial to the sovereignty of the country”.
Kim also stated that North Korea would not tolerate maritime and underwater military activities being performed by enemies, such as implementation of strategic assets.
In February this year, the North Korean leader that the country should prepare to perform nuclear attacks. The statement was after military tests with cruise missiles, held on the west coast of the Korean Peninsula to “Alert enemies” and demonstrate that the country is ready to use nuclear weapons.
Military tests and the appearance of the nuclear submarine take place at a time of speculation about relations between North Korea and the United States, especially after US President Donald Trump (Republican Party) to indicate a possible resumption of contacts with the North Korean regime.
In January, the North Korean leader is also the continuation of the country’s nuclear development “Indefinitely” during an inspection to an installation of nuclear material production.
