PT National Secretary of Women, Anne Moura, said the culture committees created by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Minister Margareth Menezes were used to elect allies in 2024, with the endorsement of the portfolio. At a September meeting, she defended priority for militants, saying that “who went to the front of prison” should benefit from the “good part.”
Anne Moura’s statements were recorded and released by the newspaper Estadão This Monday (10). They were registered in a registry by Marcos Rodrigues, former chief of the Amazonas Committee, with whom he broke politically.
The National Culture Committees Program (PNCC), responsible for hiring cultural entities to receive public funds and coordinate the actions and activities to promote culture in the states, launched in 2023, has a budget of R $ 58.8 million by the end of this year.
In a note to the newspaper, the secretary said that her lines may have been taken from context. The Ministry of Culture denied irregularities, but suspended activities and blocked resources from the Amazonas Committee until the findings are completed.
In the recording made by his former ally, Anne Moura charged that Marcos Rodrigues used the structure of the committee in his campaign for Manaus Councilwoman-in which she was defeated. In addition, he stated that the lack of political involvement of the Amazonian committee was considered “absurd” by Roberta Martins, secretary of the Ministry of Culture responsible for the PNCC and member of the PT of Rio de Janeiro.
“I went there at MinC now, last time, people asked me, ‘Anne, the committee is helping you?’ I said, No, Roberta, not. She was at the PT headquarters, at the meeting and asked: ‘Is the committee helping you? Because elsewhere it is all helping ‘. Because I went to ask for money too, I’m asking for help to earn the election. Then she said: is the committee helping you with something in the schedules, in the activities? The committee cannot give you money, but they can promote activity to help you. Are they helping you? ‘

She also criticized the fact that the committee selects artists for activities without prior political alignment, questioning the absence of articulation about what the “partner artists” would be. According to her, this dissatisfaction was brought to the executive secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Márcio Tavares. Prior to taking the number two position of Minister Margareth Menezes, Tavares held the position of National Secretary of Culture of the PT, with hierarchical status equivalent to Anne’s within the party.
