One quatI, arrested with a collar and kept as an illegal captivity animal by an elderly woman was rescued last Saturday (8), in the rural area of Aurora do Tocantins.
According to delegate Lucas de Oliveira Rodrigues, the animal was in a state of stress and aggressiveness caused by confinement.
Quati was sent to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Palmas (TO), where it will receive the necessary care for its recovery.
According to the Civil Police, the 71 -year -old woman was charged with environmental crime, according to Federal Law No. 9.605/98, which provides for a sentence of up to one year of detention for those who maintain captive wild animals without authorization.
Naturatins also applied administrative fine to the suspicion.
Delegate Lucas de Oliveira stressed the importance of denouncing environmental crimes and reported that the Tocantins Civil Police continues to investigate other cases of illegal captive of wild animals in the region.
