In the United Kingdom, a method is beginning to be implemented that could end one of the main problems that endanger thousands of people on the roads regularly. And it is also an easy and fast way to execute, ecological and cheaper than any other formula.
It is a product that is being used by cleaning equipment on British roads and consisting of microorganisms capable of transforming oil dumping and turning it into water in just a few minutes, which would allow to avoid delays, long closures of the roads and turn the discharge into a non -flammable substance.
The Essex Highway company, responsible for solving this type of incidents in the town of Essex, deals between 80 and 100 spills a year, although so far it did it using sand and absorbent materials, that option is not the most appropriate, since it forces to close the roads between three and six hours.
It is for this reason that the element used now, the fuel spill digester (FSD) has won as many integers as the most appropriate option to end these situations in a quick and efficient way, since they report that -always depending on the dimensions of the spill -the road can be opened in an hour.
As reported from Essex, a pioneer city in this matter, this substance is being used in esplanades of some gas stations, since they are the most critical areas and where there are a greater fuel spill. However, authorization has also been given to start implementing it in road areas.
The way of operating this product is very simple. Once it is applied, the microorganisms that are poured into the fuel, and their enzymes break down the harmful components while the bacteria digest them.
As we have already informed, in addition, among the positive points, it is important that it is an ecological alternative, which eliminates the need to discard contaminated absorbents. They also emphasize that it is cheaper than traditional methods, as reported from the country’s road council.
For this reason, the use of FSD has been recommended in areas with high traffic levels, to minimize interruptions. And from the Cabinet of the Council for Roads, Tom Cunningham, said that “nobody wants to get trapped in traffic due to fuel spills”, so “this new biological solution can allow roads to work much faster again”, and ensures that “the fuel spill digester is an intelligent way to make roads safer, more safe, ecological and healthy for all.”
