At least four people died on Monday in a fire in a hostel for homeless people in the southeast of Brazil. Police detained a man suspected of arson, TASR writes according to AFP report.

22 people slept in the hostel when flames spread around the dawn. Rescuers took eight wounded to the hospital, the regional ministry said. The building is operated by a religious order in São José Dos Campos in São Paulo. Police detained a suspect of a 42-year-old fireplace. “The witness saw the suspicion set fire to the sofa and then escaped,” stated the Ministry in a statement. The man is threatened with allegations of arson, murder and murder attempt. The motive of his actions is not yet known.
